Happy Mother’s Day! Dedicated in general to all moms and specifically to my Mom. Mothers are the real heroes in this world. They nurture us without hesitation and attend to the general maintenance of hearth and home – no small task, I daresay. And they still find time for personal creativity and always encourage us unconditionally and instill in us the best values for living well. But do they ever complain? Well, yes, of course they complain – they’re heroes, not martyrs, duh! Heroism does not mean that one does not bitch and moan – it means that you get back up and carry on with the task at hand despite the many problems that beset us all. For although there is no shortage of problems, there is always the opportunity to prepare ourselves for the appreciation of the joy in Life, of which there is also no shortage. Moms see things for what they are for good or ill, but also know instinctively that the possibility for growth and new life is ever present and it is that possibility that makes all positive efforts valuable and essential. I cannot speak for all mothers – only my own – and one adjective comes to mind: Heroic.
